About the Artist
My name is Celina Kemp and I am a young multimedia artist based in Lincolnshire, England. My art has a strong focus on ink drawings as i aspire to get a tattoo apprenticeship and start my journey to becoming a tattoo artist, however i also enjoy painting, drawing and sculpting. My art often involves the feminine figure and a range of styles including cybersigilism, micro-realism and much more.
As a kid, I had a rather rough childhood and art became a valuable coping mechanism for me. This then led to it being a major pillar in my life. I struggled as a teen to choose between pursuing art and pursuing a different career in law or medicine, which would be more palatable for many of my peers and family members. However, i decided to take the risk of pursuing my dream, knowing that i would be much happier and able to properly express myself.
My journey has not been easy, but i continue to build up my tattoo portfolio and create my art. I partake in local art events and also try to encourage and help other young artists that face a similiar dilemma that i once did.
Inspiration and Motivation
I have always been strongly motivated by many societal issues including the female beauty standard, equality among genders, lgbtq+ rights, and so much more. After facing these issues in my life growing up (as a young bisexual woman) I felt it was important to reach those who also believed in the same cause and had suffered the same discrimination.
However, as i develop my tattoo style, what i really aspire to achieve in my work is making each and every customer feel beautiful and confident. I want to encourage people to express and be themselves without guilt, regret or fear.
Current Work
While i build up my tattoo portfolio for my aspiration of a future tattoo apprenticeship, i enjoy playing an active role in the community, helping and supporting local artists and musicians in any and evry way that I can. This includes band management and event hosting. I would like to further expand my local work to truly aid as many young artists as i can in achieving their dreams.
And ofcourse I work to pay the bills, the path of becoming a tattoo artist is not for the weak, it includes many years of working part time jobs while building up your art on the side, therefore I pick up part time and temporary jobs in retail and hospitality to fund my life while i chase my dreams.
